That song

I can't listen to that song anymore. It didn't used to make me think of you, but now… It sends an arc straight to the center of my beating heart and burns me with the heat of a thousand new suns.

I don't blame you. I know it wasn't your intent. I wasn't on your mind when you posted it (am I ever, even?), you were just sharing something you thought was cool.

But I have to remove it from my life. I have to remove that playlist that it's in from my phone. I have to forget that I've recently been growing to love this band, because now I know you listen to them too.

Hopefully one day I'll be able to enjoy it again. Perhaps on the day my heart finally accepts what the rest of me knows: that we will never be we. Until then… I can't listen to that song anymore.
